Mission and Beliefs

Our congregation has one mission, shared by all those who are disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ.  Our mission is to “make disciples of all nations” – as Jesus instructed us before He rose back into heaven.  He also told us how to do this.  We are to baptize in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit and we are to teach all that Jesus taught.  We express this mission in our statement “Come and see, learn and rejoice, go and tell.”

This is a huge task!  It is also an amazing blessing that our Lord has invited us to participate in the work of His Church.  There is only one reason that leads us to think we can even begin to do this.  The reason is this:  Through faith we are completely assured that the Holy Spirit participates with us in our lives as disciples of Jesus Christ.  It is the power of God Himself that enables our task.  This brings us to the topic of what we believe.

We believe that Jesus Christ is our Savior from sin, death and the devil.  More intensely, we believe that He is the ONLY one who can save any of us from the sentence of eternal death that comes because we are all sinful.  He is your personal Savior too.

We believe that God has revealed Himself to us in the Bible.  Our firm faith is that the Bible is God’s word, without any error or contradiction.  The Bible can be relied upon to show us all that we need in order to be God’s forgiven children.  Accordingly, we believe that God is Father, Son and Holy Spirit – as the Bible says.  It is a mystery we cannot explain, but He is ONE GOD and yet three Persons.  Together with Christians from all time and all places, we use the term Triune God.

We believe that on some day – a day that no person knows, our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, will return in glory and will gather up all who believe in Him.  We will all join Him in heaven.
